About Let's Fund Pittsburgh

Crowdfunding for Pittsburgh — standing on its own.

Mission

Let's Fund Pittsburgh exists to get visible, popular, quality-of-life projects done in Pittsburgh neighborhoods — staircase repairs, park lighting, monument cleanups, vacant lot greening — without waiting on city budget capacity. Residents and their representatives nominate projects; donors fund them directly; only fully-funded projects move forward; the City completes the work through the process it already has.

Independence

Let's Fund Pittsburgh is an independent civic initiative. It is not affiliated with any campaign, candidate, or office, and it's deliberately structured to outlast any one of them. Nothing about the mechanic, legal structure, or platform depends on a single person remaining involved.

Origin

The idea grew out of a simple observation: small, popular, easy-to-fund projects — a beloved staircase, a dark stretch of park trail — often sit stuck in city capital-budget queues indefinitely, even when neighbors would happily fund them directly. Let's Fund Pittsburgh routes around that bottleneck with a direct-funding mechanism, while keeping execution inside the City's own existing workflows.

Legal structure

Let's Fund Pittsburgh is organized as an independent 501(c)(3) (pending), separate from any individual or political role. Founding board composition, donor disclosure rules, and a project verification process are being finalized — see Transparency & Donor Disclosure for what's already in place.
